  • First level of a 5-part campaign

  • Introduce and teach elements to the player​​

    • Introduce the campaign's characters and its story

    • Simple combat​ to learn using characters

      • Teach skills and level ups​

    • Learn targets to prioritize

  • Difficulty curve and narrative cohesion between levels

DESIGN INTENTIONS

Tell A Story

This level being the first of a campaign, it needed to introduce the player to the characters and the story.

​

The narration is woven within the level art, gameplay and the different steps of the missions. Triggers, cinematics and dialogs help enrich and support the experience.

Guide & Teach

The first steps of the mission are straightforward in order to funnel the player to its next challenge and limit the number of errors they could make. Paths are blocked and open up after completing objectives.

​

Controls are never taken away during gameplay moments in order to let the player experience and learn by themselves.

The Chase

The mission concludes on a nervous chase segment with two possible outcomes. If the player acts fast enough they will have an additional boss battle, otherwise they are taken to the next level.

​

Forks in the road and dead ends reduce the player's chances of getting the additional reward. An attentive player will see the green clouds on the ground and follow the trail, resulting in the quickest route to the end.
